Committee on European Affairs

Composition: 25 Members of the Camera Deputaţilor.

The Committee on European Affairs was set up on 19 April 2011. Prior to that, there was a standing joint committee composed of 35 Members of both Chambers of the Romanian Parliament. Before the EU accession, there was a European Integration Committee established by the Decision of the Parliament No. 8 of 8 June 1995. It was a special joint committee of both Chambers.

On 21 March 2011, the Bureau of the Camera Deputaţilor adopted a Decision formally outlining a scrutiny mechanism of the EU documents. The Decision defines scrutiny rules for determining compliance with the principle of subsidiarity and for issuing political opinions.

On 21 May 2011, the Romanian Parliament adopted the Decision No.11, abrogating the former Decision No.52 of 2006, establishing the joint Committee on European Affairs of the Romanian Parliament.

The Rules of Procedure of the new Committee on European Affairs were adopted on 22 March 2011. Prior to that, there was a standing joint committee composed of 35 Members of both Chambers of the Romanian Parliament. Before the EU accession, there was a European Integration Committee established by the Decision of the Parliament No. 8 of 8 June 1995. It was a special joint committee of both Chambers.
